The parable of the wise and foolish builders (Luke 7:46-49) should be a familiar story for anyone who grew up in church. What is compelling to me on my latest read of it is the exact state that Jesus compares to being wise (building on the rock) vs foolish (building on the sand). He does not say, "Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and loves sound theology and amasses spiritual knowledge" will be like the man who builds his foundation on rock, but that only those who hear... and then do.

It doesn't matter if you hear, the hearing must be followed by doing to be useful (James 1:22-25). As someone who is often paralyzed by thought, it's a reminder to let action follow from faith.
