The life of a Christian contains many of what can be considered paradoxes. I've mentioned before such things as blood washing white as snow, losing your life to gain it, etc. Today is another example. Good Friday... to the one who has not tasted the grace of God, how can the crucifixion of Christ possibly be a good thing? Religions hold their icons up as symbols of perfection, untouched by human sorrow. But those crazy Christians... they delight in the fact that their God was whipped, mocked, tortured, and crucified for all to see? They laud as "good" the day of His death? No... we don't delight in His crucifixion, but in His perfect love. We rejoice in Him and worship Him when we think of His willing sacrifice... we rejoice, yet we cringe over the fact that it is us who sent Him to the cross - our sins. See what a peerless God we have? See His perfect love, His blood shed willingly for you? He is good.

AMAZING LOVE
Graham Kendrick

My Lord, what love is this
That pays so dearly
That I, the guilty one
May go free!

Amazing love, O what sacrifice
The Son of God given for me
My debt he pays, and my death he dies
That I might live, that I might live

And so they watched him die
Despised, rejected
But oh, the blood he shed
Flowed for me!

And now, this love of Christ
Shall flow like rivers
Come wash your guilt away
Live again!
